Bryant’s Stellar Australian Run Continues with Top-12 Finish at Crown Australian Open
A remarkable performance Down Under has Colorado golfer Davis Bryant poised for a breakout season on the DP World Tour.
Davis Bryant is making a name for himself on the international stage, capping a successful two-week stint in Australia with a tied-for-12th place finish at the prestigious Crown Australian Open at Royal Melbourne on December 6, 2025. The Aurora resident and Colorado State University alum followed up his performance with a strong showing at the BMW Australian PGA Championship the previous week, tying for 14th.
Bryant’s final round of 2-under 69 at Royal Melbourne was highlighted by a stunning shot – a 154-yard hole-out for eagle on the 440-yard fourth hole. This pivotal moment underscored a tournament where he consistently delivered under pressure. Adding to the significance of his performance, Bryant finished one stroke ahead of golfing superstar Rory McIlroy, a career Grand Slam winner.
The field at Royal Melbourne was stacked with major champions, including Australians Cam Smith, Adam Scott, and Geoff Ogilvy, as well as Joaquin Niemann, Min Woo Lee, Si Woo Kim, Marc Leishman, and Carlos Ortiz. Notably, Bryant outperformed Ogilvy, Niemann, Lee, and Leishman throughout the tournament, demonstrating his ability to compete with the world’s best. “The tournament featured incredible crowds,” Bryant noted, reflecting on the enthusiastic atmosphere.
Over four rounds, Bryant carded scores of 71-67-69-69 for an 8-under-par total, earning approximately $22,000 (USD). While Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen ultimately claimed victory at 15 under, Bryant’s performance represents a significant step forward in his career, particularly after opting not to begin the 2024-25 season in Australia.
The 25-year-old will next compete at the Mauritius Open, scheduled for December 18-21 on the island nation east of Madagascar.
In a separate event, former Coloradan Drew Stoltz achieved a notable result at the nationally televised Grass League Championship in Tempe, Arizona. Stoltz, who grew up in Fort Collins and won a state high school title and the 2004 CGA Amateur, teamed with Drew Kittleson to secure a tied-for-third place finish in the two-day, 36-hole scramble. The duo previously finished seventh at the championship a year prior.
Stoltz and Kittleson, twice runners-up in the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball, combined for a 19-under-par score, earning a $9,000 prize. Siblings Ryan and Gabriela Ruffels took home the top prize.
These results highlight the continued success of Colorado golfers on both the DP World Tour and in unique, nationally-recognized events like the Grass League Championship, signaling a bright future for the sport in the region.
