Kottarakkara: Kottarakkara taluk level Republic Day celebration was colorful. The celebrations started in the morning when GS Jayalal MLA hoisted the flag in the mini civil station courtyard. Flowers were offered in front of the Gandhi statue. Police, Excise, SPC, Motor Vehicle Department, NCC, Scout and Guides and JRC held a parade. Then the rally started from Boys High School ground and concluded at Ravinagar via Head Post Office, Chantamuk, Pulaman Junction. Students from various schools, workers of organizations, students of nursing colleges, band performances, pearl umbrellas and still scenes graced the rally. Tehsildar P. Subhan, DYSP G. D. Vijayakumar, Municipal Corporation Chairman S. R. Ramesh, Vice Chairperson Vanaja Rajeev and General Convener Prashant Kavuvila led the event. Thousands flocked to the town to watch the procession. Prize distribution was also done in the closing session.
