Man arrested in Connection to Deadly Columbus Shooting
A 32-year-old man is in custody following a fatal shooting last week at an apartment complex in Columbus, Georgia. Donald Fair is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. for a preliminary hearing regarding the death of Demetrius Wilkerson.
Columbus Police Officers responded to a shooting at the Azalea apartments, located in the 1400 block of Boxwood Boulevard, at 3:32 a.m. on November 8. Upon arrival, officers discovered Wilkerson, 30, suffering from a gunshot wound.
emergency Medical Services personnel attempted to revive Wilkerson, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Deputy Coroner Ben Saxon officially pronounced wilkerson deceased at 4:10 a.m.
The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit spearheaded the examination,quickly establishing probable cause for the arrest of Fair. Authorities have charged Fair with murder, two counts of aggravated assault, adn possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and build their case against Fair. the charges reflect the severity of the alleged crime and the potential danger posed to the community.
