Committee of the Ministry of Health to verify the list of martyrs

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has instructed the field administration to verify the list of martyrs and injured in the student uprising. At the same time, a committee of 8 members has been appointed to verify the list of martyrs. The Committee is chaired by the District Commissioner and the Member-Secretary by the District Civil Surgeon.

These instructions were given in a letter signed by Umm Habiba, Deputy Secretary of Health Services Department (Government Health Management-1) of the Ministry of Health on Friday (April 13), sources in the Ministry of Health said today (Saturday).

It has been said that a draft list of martyrs and injured in various parts of the country has been prepared by the Directorate of Health Database based on the information received from various health service institutions in the recent student uprising. However, to complete the list of these mentioned martyrs, it is necessary to verify it at the field level. In this situation, the committee can be formed as follows to verify the list from the field level.

The committee is as follows-

1. District Administrator- President

2. Superintendent of Police- Member

3. Director/Superintendent, Medical College/District Headquarters Hospital- Member

4. Upazila Executive Officer (Concerned Upazila) – Member

5. Deputy Director, Directorate of Social Services – Member

6. Student Anti-Discrimination Coordinator (2) – Member

7. Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer – Member

8. Civil Surgeon, concerned District- Member Secretary

Scope of Committee-

1. On-the-ground verification of the list of martyrs and injured in the student uprising.

2. Correcting any information in the mailing list that is inconsistent or incomplete.

3. Recommending cancellation of wrong information if found.

4. Any martyr who is not in the list and if correct information is available on his behalf, steps are taken to include him in the existing list.

5. By September 14, the sent list should be properly verified and sent to the health service department.

6. As a focal person in this program (1) Umme Habiba, Deputy Secretary, Government Health Management-1 Branch, Health Services Department and Md. Nikaruzzaman, Senior Assistant Secretary, Cabinet Division, will provide overall support.

7. The list should include only the names of martyrs and wounded in favor of the uprising.

It is further stated in the directive, Sabina has been requested to provide the necessary direction to the field administration through the cabinet department for finalizing the proposed district level scrutiny committee and preparing the accurate list.
