The debate over government budget execution reignites as the first quarter of the year progresses. As of March, the budget execution of 14 sectors of the National Government does not exceed 5%, according to data revealed by Víctor Muñoz, former secretary general of the Presidency of the Republic.

Muñoz, through his account on the social network is below 5% in several key sectors.

Among the affected sectors are culture (4.97%), finance (4.90%), housing (4.76%), employment (4.71%), statistical information (2.95%) and social inclusion and reconciliation (2.73%). These figures reflect a worrying lack of progress in the execution of the resources assigned to these areas, which could negatively affect the implementation of government policies and programs.

On the other hand, some sectors show higher budget execution. At the top of the list are mines and energy (36.55%), health and social protection (19.99%), education (17.47%) and international relations (17.20%). These results highlight the disparity in budget execution between different sectors of the Government.

Given this situation, it is expected that the authorities will take measures to improve budget execution and guarantee that the allocated resources are used effectively for the benefit of citizens. The low budget execution in key sectors raises questions about the effectiveness of government management and the prioritization of public policies in the current socioeconomic context of the country.
