The Congress of the Republic and the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima will form a coordination committee that will carry out preventive and relief actions in the event of heavy rains in Lima.

This was agreed in the meeting that representatives of Parliament held this afternoon with the mayor of the capital, Rafael López Aliagaand members of the Lima commune.

Congresswoman Norma Yarrow (Avanza País), a participant in this meeting, pointed out that This agreement will allow quick and timely actions to prevent the effects of eventual large-scale river rainfall.

It will make it easier to address situations such as those of the Huaycoloro and Balta bridgeswhich would collapse if there was an increase in rainfall and in the flow of rivers.

“Huaycoloro is going to collapse if between tomorrow or the day after we don’t clean up the garbage that the huaicos bring. And Puente Balta, due to its colonial structure, always accumulates all the garbage that comes from the ravines”, Yarrow said.

Imminent danger

He also recalled that these precipitations could activate 16 streams.

“That the mayors of the banks of the Rimac River immediately make an evaluation of their population living in those areas”said.

In the meeting with the mayor of Lima The vice president of Parliament, Martha Moyano (FP) and the congressmen of Popular Renewal, Alejandro Muñante, Gladys Echaíz and María Jaúregui also participated; as well as Alejandro Cavero, from Avanza País; Rosangella Barbarán, from Fuerza Popular, and José Jerí, from Somos Perú.
