The price rise will sneak back into the control session to the Government in the Congress of Deputies this wednesday, a plenary session in which the opposition will demand accounts from the Executive for the inflation in basic necessities, such as food and rising mortgage prices and which the president will not attend, Pedro Sánchez, who is in New York to participate in the UN General Assembly.
In the case of food pricethe PP wants the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, to study the possibility of reducing the VAT applied to them, while the CUP intends to know from the mouth of the Vice President of Economic Affairs, Nadia Calviño, what measures the Government is going to develop to guarantee the fundamental right to food in the face of this crisis.
Calviño’s “triumphalism”
Regarding the rise in mortgages after the increase in rates, if in the previous plenary session it was EH-Bildu who called Calviño to account, now it is Ciudadanos, who have registered a question through their spokesperson, Inés Arrimadas, and an urgent interpellation to the vice president, which anticipates the debate and vote on a motion in the subsequent plenary session.
