Kulachal Constituency Congress MLA Prince
The Congress is accusing Vijayatharani of making a mistake by joining the BJP in the run-up to the election. But Prince, who is the MLA of Kulachal for the third time, says, “Congress leadership did the wrong thing”. We posed some questions to him.

“In the Congress stronghold Vilavankode, the people of the constituency along with the party members fought against giving seats to the unqualified Vijayatharani. Despite that they gave him a seat… it was a mistake on the part of the leadership. The people also made him win by saying that BJP candidate should not win. In the end, Vijayadharani himself left for the BJP. This is a perfect lesson for errant leadership. This failure happened because the Congress leadership was making mistakes. But we are ashamed that one of our MLAs has gone to the wretched BJP.”
“If it was the leadership’s mistake to give Vijayatharani a third seat, how can it be right to give it to you?”

“When I was in the Student Congress, I was the one who went to jail for the party at the age of 18. When Vijayatharani was announced as a candidate for the first time, no one even knew her face. A person who was a lawyer in Delhi and Chennai was suddenly imported to the constituency. When asked by the constituency administrators, they said, ‘Manishankar Iyer has given his allotted ticket to Vijayatharani in allocating seats to each leader.’ There are many leaders in Vilavankode constituency. What has happened now is the result of giving seats to Vijayatharani who came from somewhere without giving them value.”
“Are you saying that you are criticizing the leadership only to get MP ticket this time?”
“I deserve… I am asking for a seat. Last time I asked for MP seat… Vijay Vasanth was given seat in the by-election in sympathy with Vasanthakumar’s demise. However, he joined the party only after his father’s death. The Congress party should at least correct itself. This time also I have asked for MP seat. According to justice, I should be given the seat. If an import candidate is given a seat, the people of Kanyakumari district will give a befitting reply.”
“If all the sitting MLAs ask for seats like this, how many by-elections will the Congress face?”
“There is no need to spend crores here like in other districts if there is a by-election. We will easily defeat the enemy and win.”
