Conrado Osorio, Star of ‘La Reina del Sur’ and ‘la Fea Más Bella,’ Dies at 49 After Cancer Battle
Beloved actor Conrado Osorio, known for his roles in popular telenovelas including La Reina del Sur and La Fea Más Bella, has died at the age of 49 following a battle with colon cancer. The news was confirmed by his brother, sports journalist Jhon Jairo Osorio, who shared a heartfelt tribute on social media.
Osorio’s brother expressed profound grief, writing on Instagram on November 27, “I’m going to miss you, but above all I will remember you happy and I will always honor you. Life rewarded me with a brother who was a partner, an accomplice, a friend, a confidant and a reference. Have a good trip.” He further added,”I feel proud of you,your movies,your stubbornness,your scoldings and your teachings.You gave it all. At some point we will continue the hospital conversations… I owe you several stories! I love you,brother.”
The actor publicly revealed his diagnosis of colon cancer in May 2023 and later shared details of his challenging chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. He described the past few weeks as “not easy days,” especially due to the severe stomach discomfort caused by the treatment. “I ask God every day for patience first and strength: ‘God gives you the strength to endure whatever it takes,'” he stated.he later disclosed that the cancer had metastasized.
Just weeks before his death,on October 26,Osorio celebrated his 49th birthday in a clinic in Medellín,Colombia,surrounded by family and loved ones. He expressed gratitude in a social media post, writing, “On this day that is ending I just want to say: THANK GOD for so much, for these years of life, for my family and friends, for so many people giving me a prayer for my recovery; it feels gorgeous and fills the soul. GOD THE FATHER may your will be done.”
Born in Ecuador, Osorio began his acting career in Colombia in the 1990s before relocating to Mexico in 1999 to pursue new professional opportunities. He made his Mexican television debut in the soap opera Clasificación, and went on to appear in numerous successful productions, including Ecatepec, Pasión, In the Name of Love, La Viuda Negra, and La Reina del Sur.
Osorio’s passing marks a notable loss for the Latin American entertainment industry, leaving behind a legacy of memorable performances and a grieving family and fanbase. His brother’s poignant words serve as a testament to the profound impact Osorio had on those who knew and loved him.
