Remembering the Holocaust and forgetting the Jews: a tweet posted by the Brighton City Council in the south of England on the occasion of International Holocaust Day caused an uproar on social media today (Saturday).
The tweet reads: “Today is International Holocaust Day, the day dedicated to the victims of genocide. Marking the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, we remember all those who were murdered for something that made them who they are.”

The strange and convoluted wording and the avoidance of mentioning the word “Jews” provoked outrage on the networks. “Something that made them who they are? They are Jews, they were murdered for being Jews,” tweeted one netizen.
