Controversy at Alankanallur Jallikattu Competition: Karthi Declared Winner Over Abhisithar

by time news

Madurai: At the end of the jallikattu competition held at Alankanallur yesterday, it was announced that Karthi from Karuppayurani, Madurai district won the first prize by taming 18 bulls. Also, Abhisithar from Poovanti, Sivagangai district was declared the second prize for taming 17 bulls.

In this case, Abhisithar, who was announced as the second prize, refused to buy the motorcycle prize for himself and left. In this regard, he said: Last year 2023, I caught 30 cows at Alankanallur Jallikattu. The first prize was awarded for capturing 26 cows. This year too, this government did politics and did not let me get the first prize. The reason for this is the minister. Karthi, who won the first prize this time, came and got the cow on the recommendation of last year and this year.

I tamed 11 cows in 2 rounds (badge). He caught 11 cows in just 3 rounds. Karthi and I caught 17 cows. Even the festival committee did not detect this. I will go to the court. Watch the video and declare myself first prize winner on this same platform. This is what he said.

Minister Explanation: Minister P. Murthy says, “Jallikattu is common. The competition was conducted without any discrimination. We gave a chance to all contestants with emphasis on the last round.

Prizes were distributed on the basis of merit jointly by the festival committee and the district administration. Officials have also acted formally and declared the result. There is no room for confusion. The charge of the 2nd prize winner is not acceptable,” he said.
