Annapoorani is a movie directed by Nilesh Krishna starring Nayanthara, the leading actress of Indian cinema. Starring actor Jai in the lead role, the film stars Sathyaraj, Redin Kingsley, Suresh Chakraborty, KS Ravikumar, Renuka, Purnima Ravi in lead roles. The film was released last December 29 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi on the Netflix ODT platform. After its ODD release, the film was embroiled in various controversies. In particular, various Hindu organizations objected to a line in the film in which actor Jai quotes the Ramayana as saying that Lord Rama ate non-vegetarian food. As a result, the film was removed from Netflix’s ODT site.
In this case, actress Nayanthara has expressed regret regarding the Annapoorani film issue.

The censored film that was previously shown in theaters was O.T.D. We do not expect to be removed from the site. My team and I do not intend to hurt anyone’s feelings and we understand the seriousness of this issue.
I would never have done this on purpose as I used to visit all places of worship with great faith in God. Furthermore, I offer my sincere and heartfelt apologies if I have hurt your feelings in any way.
