Cop26 in Glasgow, WWF activists protest dressed as endangered animals. The appeal to governments: “Respect climate promises”

by time news

A group of WWF protesters wearing endangered animal masks staged a flash mob of protest on the official COP26 last day in Glasgow. Activists have asked governments attending the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference to abide by the agreements made. “We do not forget,” say the activists. According to activists, the draft of the COP26 agreement, viewed together with other activist groups, has positive elements within it, but also the relaxation of some measures, in particular those on coal.

For the WWF, the revised draft has made “steps backwards in key areas”, particularly as regards fossil fuels. But the organization nevertheless speaks of an “important signal” and welcomes “the short-term increase in climate commitments by 2022”.
