COSCO Shippingone of the world’s leading shipping companies, has demonstrated its dominance in the sector by accounting for around 19% of electronic bills of lading (eBL) issued worldwide in 2021.
Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and fluctuations in the global economy, COSCO Shipping has managed to maintain strong performance. The company has demonstrated remarkable resilience, attributing its success to greater resilience in its operations, focused on a digital and low-carbon transformation, and greater supply chain integration.
Additionally, COSCO Shipping has received considerable support from the Chinese government in the form of subsidies, which has contributed to its success. Between 2010 and 2018, COSCO received more than $1.3 billion in subsidies from the Chinese government, with around half of this figure linked to ship demolitions.
