Cosmetics, pharmacy, paint: scallop shells, a booming business

Since early October, scallop fishing has been in full swing. The beginning of a campaign that promises to be record, given the radiant health of the deposit in the Bay of Seine (in the broad sense). As in Courseulles-sur-Mer, professionals are busy shelling the shells on the line. So what to do with the shell of the shell? “The fishing industry, like others, has an obligation to treat its waste”, notes Gilles Bégué-Turon, general manager of CSBT Environnement, a company based near Caen which is working on a major outlet for shells.
