The Harju County Court on Thursday sentenced a man who killed his mother last spring to a lengthy prison term, writes BNS.
The court sentenced 38-year-old Alexander Ivanov to 13 years in prison for murder, starting from his detention on March 21 last year.
According to the prosecution, in March 2022, Ivanov stabbed his mother more than 20 times in an apartment in Tallinn.
According to the prosecution, the particular cruelty of the murder was expressed in the fact that after the woman fell on her back and tried to defend herself with her hands, Ivanov continued to stab her. Ivanov struck her in the face, head and neck. The woman died from her injuries.
Ivanov pleaded guilty in court, but was unable to explain the murder.
The verdict can be challenged through the Tallinn District Court.
