While the hospital is taking precautions, public access to the affected units isn’t wholly prohibited. “public access is not fully restricted; however, additional precautions are in place to protect patients, visitors, and staff,” a hospital official stated.
Brandy Sharp Young, director of corporate affairs and patient engagement, emphasized the importance of mask-wearing for anyone visiting the 2C or 1B units. “Those who do visit must wear a hospital-provided mask at all times while on the unit and should postpone visiting if they are unwell,” she said.
Despite the outbreaks, Sharp Young confirmed that case numbers are currently low. To protect patient privacy, the hospital does not disclose exact case counts when they fall below a threshold of five patients per unit. Both units currently have under five cases each.
Hospital teams are diligently monitoring personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies to ensure adequate availability. Infection Prevention and Control teams are collaborating with occupational health and safety and other support services throughout the facility to maintain a safe surroundings.
