A notable increase in overnight stays has positioned Crans-Montana for a prosperous close to 2025, with the Swiss resort experiencing a substantial boost in international visitors. The resort recorded 266,165 hotel nights, representing a gain of 20,863 stays compared to the previous year, and an impressive 10.9% rise in average occupancy rates. This positive trend is largely attributed to strategic partnerships and a growing appeal to key overseas markets.
International Markets Fuel Growth
The most dramatic gains were seen in long-haul travel, signaling a shift in Crans-MontanaS visitor demographics. North America led the charge with a remarkable 74.7% increase in overnight stays, followed closely by visitors from Gulf countries, who increased their presence by 36.6%. This diversification demonstrates the resort’s expanding global reach and successful marketing efforts. The surge in North American visitors is a direct result of a partnership with Vail Resorts, while targeted marketing campaigns attracted travelers from the Gulf region.
Vail Resorts Partnership Proves Key
A pivotal factor in attracting North American skiers is the resort’s collaboration with Vail Resorts. According to a senior official, “We have 2.3 million subscribers in the united States who have full access to our ski lifts. This enormously increases the attractiveness of our destination.” this access provides a significant advantage, tapping into a large and established network of ski enthusiasts. The partnership, initiated in late 2023, allows Vail Resorts Epic Pass holders seamless access to Crans-Montana’s slopes, driving a substantial increase in bookings.
The positive results, announced following a general assembly on Tuesday evening, have delighted leadership at Crans-Montana Tourism & Congress. Nicolas Finley, Director of Crans-Montana Tourism & Congress, stated the results demonstrate the resort’s successful strategy of diversifying its visitor base and strengthening international ties. The substantial growth in overnight stays and occupancy rates underscores the resort’s resilience and its ability to adapt to evolving travel patterns. The continued focus on international markets, especially through strategic partnerships,is expected to further solidify Crans-Montana’s position as a premier alpine destination.
