Saudi Arabia to create 250,000 jobs in preparation for 2030 World Expo

Saudi Arabia is gearing up for the 2030 World Expo and with it comes the promise of new job opportunities for its citizens. According to Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmed Al Khatib, two and a half lakh jobs will be created in preparation for the global event. This is in addition to the six lakh jobs announced as part of the National Tourism Strategy.

The minister also announced that an agreement has been reached with five companies under Hadaf to provide job training to half a lakh people. This initiative is aimed at equipping citizens with the necessary skills to take on the new job opportunities that will be available in the lead up to the 2030 World Expo.

In addition to job creation, the country is also focused on expanding its hospitality industry. More than a thousand hotel rooms will be furnished in Saudi Arabia as part of the exhibition. These new opportunities are in line with the National Tourism Strategy announced in 2019, which promises to create six lakh jobs in the country.

Minister Al Khatib highlighted that the new job opportunities are just the beginning. By 2030, the country aims to create a total of sixteen lakh jobs directly and indirectly related to the tourism sector. He also emphasized that these jobs do not necessarily require advanced skills and training courses are readily available for those looking to enter the industry.

The Human Resource Development Fund, or Hadaf, will play a key role in providing training for Saudi nationals. With an agreement in place with five companies to organize training for half a lakh people, the initiative is expected to significantly contribute to the country’s workforce development.

The announcement of these new job opportunities and training initiatives is a significant step towards achieving Saudi Arabia’s vision for the future. With the 2030 World Expo on the horizon, the country is making strategic investments in its tourism sector to ensure sustainable economic growth and create opportunities for its citizens.
