This was stated directly by the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi at his office, Central Jakarta, Thursday (1/8).

“So, we made a rule for opsel (cellular operators) to transfer a maximum of Rp 1 million per day. We conducted a serious evaluation to limit public access to online gambling features in the media space,” said Budi.

He said he had communicated with the top leaders in cellular operator companies regarding the provision that the maximum credit transfer limit could only be IDR 1 million per day.

The decision to limit credit transfers, he said, is a strategy of the Ministry of Communication and Information and telecommunications industry players to eradicate online gambling which currently also uses credit as a transaction medium.

Budi said that nationally, it is estimated that Rp. 500 billion in credit has been used for online gambling transactions.
