The Ministry of Digital Development has formulated the criteria according to which the operator of the domestic registry of hosting providers will be determined. This is stated in the draft resolution of the ministry, published on the website of regulatory legal acts. According to changes in the Law “On Communications”, responsibilities for regulating the activities of hosting providers are assigned to Roskomnadzor (RKN), but to maintain the register, the agency will be able to attract an organization registered in the Russian Federation, it follows from the project.
At the end of July 2023, Vedomosti wrote that the State Duma adopted changes to the laws “On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection” and “On Communications”. These include the creation of a new registry of hosting providers, registration in the registry will be mandatory for these companies. Providers must be registered in Russia, their computing power must also be located in our country and have the technical capabilities to meet information security requirements and to install technical means to counter threats.
