Time.news Editor (TNE): Good afternoon, Dr. Mouanga. Thank you for joining us today to discuss Soboleco’s recent initiatives through its ANDZA brand. This commitment to local communities is quite a topic of discussion. Can you give us your insights on what these initiatives mean for the Léconi region?
Dr. Léa Mouanga (LM): Good afternoon! It’s great to be here. Soboleco’s initiatives represent a significant leap toward sustainable community development. By addressing essential infrastructure needs—such as access to health, education, and clean water—they are directly enhancing the quality of life in Léconi. This kind of corporate social responsibility (CSR) work goes beyond mere donations; it fosters real, lasting change.
TNE: Absolutely! The support provided to the Léconi Health Center, including essential medicines and water packs, is particularly commendable. How crucial is it for companies to engage in health-related support like this?
LM: Health is foundational to any community’s development. By supplying essential medications and ensuring access to clean water, Soboleco is helping to reduce health disparities. This initiative addresses immediate health needs and sets a precedent for companies to prioritize the well-being of their stakeholders. Enhanced health in communities invariably leads to a more productive workforce, ultimately benefiting the company as well.
TNE: It’s fascinating how interlinked health and productivity can be. Moving on to education, Soboleco’s contributions to Kakogho High School and Léconi Technological High School, providing computers and connection equipment, show a commitment to enhancing digital learning. How vital is digital literacy in today’s world?
LM: Digital literacy is essential in our increasingly connected world. It’s not just about using technology; it’s about empowering the next generation with the skills to thrive in various sectors. By investing in digital education, Soboleco is equipping students with tools that can increase their competitiveness in the job market. This also opens the door to opportunities in entrepreneurship and innovation within their communities.
TNE: Soboleco also focuses on adult education, offering teaching materials for various levels of literacy. Why is adult education such an important aspect of social inclusion?
LM: Adult education is critical for social inclusion as it addresses the needs of those who may have missed formal education opportunities. By facilitating literacy and skill development for adults aged 20 to 45, Soboleco is acknowledging that learning is a lifelong journey. Every community member who can read and write, or gain new skills, has a better chance of contributing to their community and improving their economic situation. This creates a more equitable society.
