Beyond the success in the V Caribbean Cup, first for Cuba after a couple of years in second place, the contest leaves Artemisa with interesting moments in the matches that confirm the quality of the Ariguanaban native Dayán García and the left-handed pitcher from Artemisa Geonel Gutiérrez.

Dayán not only had five hits in eleven times at bat, but three of these were doubles, he drove in four runs, scored another two and received a couple of walks.

As sixth in the lineup against the United States Virgin Islands, among him (3), Erisbel Arruebarruena (3) and Roberto Baldoquín (2), they scored eight of the 11 scores.

He went 3-for-4 against his next victim, Curaçao. In the opening inning itself, he sent Yasniel González to the plate with a rocket to right field. In the fourth episode, he shot a two-point shot and scored through another one from Andrys Pérez. And in the sixth both were combined with a new pair of tubeyes, to add one more.

Against Puerto Rico he negotiated a walk and went blank in two at-bats, while Geonel took the mound during an inning in which he allowed a hit and struck out.

Cuba closed the tournament undefeated and atoned for the setback in the 2021 final against Curacao. In that last challenge, the Hunters third baseman went 1 for 3.

The contest served as preparation for the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile, starting on the 20th against Colombia. This week the final roster will be announced, with certain changes compared to the team that won the Cup.
