It’s that time again on Tuesday. The Champions League returns with the round of 16. The only Austrian representative, FC Salzburg, is no longer there.
The official “X” account of the UEFA Champions League is currently promoting the start of the knockout phase. The Salzburg Stadium will be used. “Round of 16” can be read on the upper tier of the Salzburg stadium. The Salzburgers are anything but regulars in this area of the competition. Matthias Jaissle and his team only managed promotion in 2021/22.
In the current season, the Mozartstadters didn’t even reach the second round of the UEFA Europa League.
“Lights, camera, action!” is written above the picture on the CL account.
This strange advertisement also causes astonishment on the English account of FC Red Bull Salzburg. “Our stadium is in the graphic. Does that mean we’re back in the competition, @ChampionsLeague?” the club account responded humorously to the faux pas.
