Currently, there is no projected deficit in terms of products included in the minimum food basket in Armenia, RA Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan announced.

He calls on citizens not to panic and make unnecessary purchases.

The Deputy Prime Minister reminded that the Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan commented on the news about the food security of the Republic of Armenia.

“Regarding the information spread in the Russian and Armenian mass media in the last two days, according to which it is planned to limit the export of a number of food products from the Russian Federation to the EAEU countries, I inform you that the problems of food security in Armenia are under the attention and direct control of the Government of the Republic of Armenia.

Until now, there is no approved decision by the Russian government regarding the ban on the export of food products, therefore the import of products to Armenia is carried out normally.

Currently, there is no projected deficit in terms of products included in the minimum food basket in the Republic of Armenia. We are in contact with our Russian partners, and even in the case of the Russian government’s decision regarding possible export restrictions, the Republic of Armenia has all the necessary resources to ensure the food security of the population.

The grain self-sufficiency of the Russian Federation is about 150 percent, which means that the Russian Federation has sufficient reserves for domestic consumption and export.
