The State Revenue Committee has started cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in order to completely transfer the customs processes to the electronic platform. The formed working group has already started to study the current customs processes, the existing problems, consider the SRC’s vision to solve them and make a needs assessment.

At the meeting with the international expert involved in the group, SRC deputy chairman Shushanik Nersisyan said that the committee is moving along the path of digitalization of customs processes. All projects are expected to have a completely new customs service at the end. In other words, when clearing goods, the entrepreneur or his representative will no longer have direct contact with the customs officials. online processes will replace paperwork and visits to the customs office.

It is planned that based on the analysis of needs and international experience, the EBRD partners will propose the best model for digitization of customs processes.

At the end of the project, a document summarizing the reform strategy with financial justifications will be developed.
