Thibaut Pinot, idol of French cycling, will definitively bow out at the end of the Tour of Lombardy, fifth Monument of the season and last major meeting of the year, this Saturday between Como and Bergamo.
The race can be followed live and in full on Eurosport channels, from 10 a.m. this Saturday, with an arrival around 5 p.m.
For the 33-year-old from Franche-Comté, the Dead Leaves Classic is the last meeting and the route, a sublime slide in an enchanting setting, is the perfect place for his farewells.
A lover of Italy, Pinot won what he considers to be his greatest success in “le” Lombardy in 2018, when he beat Vincenzo Nibali on his home soil. “The Lombardy will surely remain the greatest victory of my career,” he said. And it’s the best race of the year. So to finish there is great…”
“If Thibaut Pinot had won his entire career, the French would hate him”

As for winning in Bergamo, Pinot may have difficulty repeating the feat, given the quality of the competition, including Remco Evenepoel, Primoz Roglic and Tadej Pogacar, who will be aiming for a third victory in a row in this rugged classic.
For the 2023 edition, the classic changes nothing, with the exception of the arrival and departure cities which continue their alternation. The runners start from Como and will finish in Bergamo, as in the 2021 edition.
With more than 4,400 meters of altitude difference and its share of climbs, some of which are legendary, victory is promised to a strong man.
