Promoting a healthier lifestyle and a cleaner environment, officials in NTR District are actively encouraging residents to embrace cycling. A recent cycling rally, spearheaded by the District Collector, underscored the importance of physical and mental well-being through this accessible and eco-friendly activity.
The Fit India on Sundays Cycle Run program, organized under the guidance of the District Sports Authority (DSA), took place at Dr. BR Ambedkar Smriti Vanam. The event aimed to inspire both children and youth to adopt cycling as a regular habit, fostering a spirit of “Pedal for Fitness.”
Collector Leads by Example in Cycling Rally
The rally was formally launched by the District Collector, who also participated alongside over 50 children, officials from the sports department, and members of the District Cycling Association. Participants covered a nearly 9-kilometer route, navigating through key areas of the city including Benz Circle, Poly Clinic Road, PB Siddhartha College, and Red Circle.
“Mental health is just as crucial as physical health, and cycling significantly contributes to overall well-being,” a senior official stated during the event. The Collector emphasized the broader benefits of cycling, urging citizens to view it not merely as a means of personal fitness, but as a way to create a lasting, pollution-free environment for future generations.
Building a Culture of Cycling
The initiative highlights a growing recognition of the multifaceted benefits of cycling. Beyond its positive impact on individual health, the promotion of cycling aligns with broader sustainability goals. The Collector noted that cultivating positive habits can serve as a foundation for success and stressed the importance of raising awareness and fostering a passion for cycling within the community.
“A good habit can become a stepping stone to many successes,” the official added.
Key participants in the program included DSDO Kakarla Koteshwara Rao, District Cycling Association members Suguna Rao, and coach Rahul. This collaborative effort demonstrates a commitment to building a more active and environmentally conscious community in NTR District.
