The model “survived the operation well”
Model Romina Palm successfully underwent surgery after tearing a cruciate ligament during a skiing vacation in Austria.
Model Romina Palm (26) shared an update following cruciate ligament surgery. The injury occurred on Boxing Day while skiing in Austria, with a fall on her first descent resulting in a torn ligament. The operation, performed on Sunday, appears to have gone well. “Hoo little sign – the operation went well. I now have a cruciate ligament again!” she reported to her 1.3 million followers from the clinic.
Romina Palm: “I’m honest… now I’m scared”
A countdown posted to her social media showed the period leading up to and immediately following the surgery. Palm shared more details in her stories, admitting, “I’ll be honest… now I’m scared,” in a post shortly before the procedure. She also revealed, “I was shaking with fear, but everyone calmed me down so sweetly.”
Remarkably, Palm didn’t receive general anesthesia, explaining, “I made a few jokes with the doctor while he was in my knee.” She even considered documenting the procedure, stating, “I decided to watch. I’ll spare you the recordings,” and adding, “If you ever have the chance: do it. Watch. It’s not disgusting at all.”
Grandparents look after daughter Hazel
As for her baby Hazel, the model’s fans were eager to know. The infant, just a few months old, was able to visit her mother in the hospital, as shown in a photo of the pair lying together in a hospital bed.
Palm is expected to be discharged from the hospital this Monday. However, she recently shared that she experienced a painful night, reporting that the pain is “really bad right now” and that she’s also “not feeling great mentally.” She wasn’t alone, though; her partner, Christian Wolf (30), spent the night with her, while their daughter Hazel stayed with her grandparents.
First a cruciate ligament tear in my right leg, now my left one
Prior to the skiing accident, Palm expressed her fear about hitting the slopes in an Instagram story, stating things would “go wrong.” She even jokingly wished for a “broken neck and leg.” Unfortunately, the accident occurred just minutes later, with too many people on the slope, according to Palm. She immediately knew she had torn her cruciate ligament, having experienced a similar injury ten years prior: “Exactly ten years ago it was the right leg, now it’s the left.”
Initially appearing strong after being transported to the hospital, Palm later became emotional. “Many plans have to change now. Now I have to face a lot of physio.” She also expressed concern about her ability to fully care for her daughter Hazel.
Romina Palm gained recognition after placing fourth on “Germany’s Next Topmodel” in 2021 and has since built a following as an influencer. She was previously engaged to Stefano Zarrella (35), but the engagement ended in early 2023. She is now engaged to entrepreneur Christian Wolf, with whom she welcomed her first child in May.
