David Pastrnak Named NHL’s Second Star of the Month, Reaches Historic Milestone

A dominant January performance has cemented David Pastrnak’s status as one of the National Hockey League’s elite players, earning him the second star of the month honor and a place in Bruins history. The 29-year-old forward is also poised to be a key figure for the Czech team in the upcoming Olympic tournament.

January Dominance on the Ice

Pastrnak’s stellar play throughout January saw him record five goals and an impressive 20 assists in just 14 games. This outstanding production resulted in 25 points for the month, the most by a Boston Bruins player since March 2018, when Brad Marchand tallied one more point. He finished second in the league’s star of the month voting, trailing only Tampa Bay forward Nikita Kučerov, with Edmonton defender Evan Bouchard rounding out the top three.

The Czech forward found the back of the net in 12 of his 14 January contests, showcasing remarkable consistency. A particularly noteworthy performance came on January 10 against the New York Rangers, where Pastrnak delivered a remarkable six assists in a decisive 10-2 victory.

Reaching 900 Career Points

Beyond his monthly accolades, January also marked a significant milestone in Pastrnak’s career. He became only the third Czech hockey player – and the sixth member of the Boston Bruins organization – to surpass 900 career points in the NHL. This achievement underscores his longevity and sustained excellence at the highest level of professional hockey.

The Bruins capitalized on Pastrnak’s strong play, winning 11 games in January and improving their position in the playoff standings. Currently, Pastrnak ranks sixth in league scoring with 69 points, comprised of 22 goals and 47 assists, through 50 games played.

Kučerov and Bouchard Also Shine

While Pastrnak’s performance was exceptional, other players also distinguished themselves in January. Nikita Kučerov led the NHL with 31 points, registering nine goals and 22 assists in 13 games. Meanwhile, Evan Bouchard recorded 23 points (8 goals, 15 assists) in 15 games, including his first-ever hat trick against the Washington Capitals.
