The force of the impact was catastrophic, reducing the van to a mangled wreck.

The collision didn’t end there. An oncoming passenger vehicle,unable to avoid the wreckage,became a third participant in the accident. “A passenger car was also passing through the given section, which was damaged by an object in connection with the incident of two trucks, which formed an obstacle and could no longer be avoided,” explained Prešov regional police spokeswoman jana Ligdayová.
Firefighters from Spiš and Poprad swiftly responded to the scene,deploying 14 officers and five pieces of equipment from the district headquarters in Levoča and Poprad. “The priority was to select and treat the crew of the van,” stated Martin Blihár, operations officer of the Hazz Regional Directorate in Prešov.
