Table of Contents
Motorists traveling to Bratislava should expect significant delays this morning due to a traffic incident on the D1 highway. authorities estimate the disruption will last approximately two hours.
Traffic police are currently investigating an incident on the D1 highway, roughly 31.5 kilometers from Bratislava in the direction of the city, just before the exit to Senec – East – Blatné. According to a statement from the Regional Directorate of police in Bratislava, officers are “currently performing the necessary actions related to documenting the incident in road traffic.” The incident has resulted in the blockage of two lanes, leading to the formation of significant traffic convoys. Initial reports indicate a multi-vehicle collision involving a truck and two passenger cars. Emergency services, including fire and rescue teams, are on scene providing assistance. The cause of the collision is currently under investigation.
Alternate Routes Advised for Commuters
To mitigate the impact of the blockage, authorities are strongly advising drivers to consider alternative routes to Bratislava. A recommended detour involves taking the Voderady exit and proceeding along road III/1286 towards Hrnčiarovce nad Parnou. From Hrnčiarovce nad Parnou, drivers should connect to road I/61 in the direction of Blatné.
“From the village of Blatné, drivers can connect to the D1 highway (Senec – East intersection), which is fully passable in that section,” authorities added. This detour, while adding distance to the commute, offers a viable workaround to avoid the congestion on the D1.
Impact and Expected Resolution
The incident is causing considerable disruption to morning traffic flow, notably for those traveling from eastern Slovakia towards Bratislava. While the nature of the incident remained undisclosed earlier, police have now confirmed a multi-vehicle collision. The estimated two-hour restriction period suggests a focused effort to clear the scene and restore normal traffic conditions. As of 10:30 AM local time, authorities announced that all lanes have been reopened following the removal of the damaged vehicles and debris. Minor delays are still reported as traffic normalizes. Motorists are urged to exercise caution and allow for extra travel time.
