Daegu FC Accelerates Training Schedule, Eyes K League 2 Promotion
Daegu FC is streamlining its preseason preparations, prioritizing efficiency and player well-being as it gears up for the upcoming K League 2 season.
Following the guidance of coach Kim Byeong-soo, Daegu FC will conclude its training camp in Namhae ahead of schedule and refocus its efforts in Daegu. The decision reflects a strategic emphasis on maximizing player concentration and minimizing the risk of injury during the demanding preseason period.
The team returned from an initial training camp in Thailand and commenced its second phase in Namhae on February 3. This camp has been heavily focused on tactical refinement, strengthening team cohesion, and competitive practice matches, particularly with the integration of newly acquired players, including Seraphim.
Daegu initially planned a series of practice games, beginning with a match against Cheongju on February 7, culminating in a return to Daegu after February 14. However, the club has revised its schedule to complete training on the morning of February 14, shortening the Namhae camp by approximately one week. A senior official stated the adjustment is designed to achieve “maximizing efficiency” through intensified focus over a shorter duration.
Having already completed a comprehensive six-week training regimen spanning Thailand and Namhae, Daegu intends to grant players a brief respite of one or two days coinciding with the Lunar New Year holiday. This will be followed by a rigorous two-week period of focused preparation leading up to the season opener.
The atmosphere within the Namhae camp is reportedly positive, with all players united by the shared ambition of promotion to the K League 1. According to reports, the team is demonstrating promising results and a strong training ethic. Following the conclusion of the Namhae camp on February 14, the team will conduct final assessments in Daegu and potentially participate in additional practice games as needed.
Daegu FC will kick off its K League 2 campaign with an away match against Hwaseong FC at Daegu iM Bank Park on March 1. The club is determined to make a strong push for promotion and deliver a successful season for its supporters.
