Kannur: Ramachandra Dom from Bengal is expected to represent the CPM in the CPM politburo as a Dalit. Sitaram Yachury will continue as the General Secretary. The number of PB members is likely to remain at 17. The number of Central Committee members and the representation of women will increase.

Ramachandra Dom, an MP since 1989, has been elected to the Lok Sabha seven times. He was the Chief Whip of the CPM in the Lok Sabha. Hannan Molla, S. Rajachandran Pillai and Biman Bose will retire from PB due to age limit. Yusuf Tarigami may go to the Politburo.

The representation of Kerala in the Polit Bureau and the Central Committee will increase. PB members from Kerala are S. Ramachandran Pillai, Pinarayi Vijayan, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and MA Baby. Pinarayi, Kodiyeri and Baby will continue. Earlier, it was decided to give age exemption to Pinarayi. A. Vijayaraghavan is likely to reach the politburo when S. Ramachandran Pillai leaves. AK Balan is also a possibility.

There will be more newcomers in the Central Committee as well. Ministers KN Balagopal and P Rajeev will join the Central Committee. TN Seema, CS Sujatha, J. Mersikuttyamma, Mohammad Riyas, P. Krishnaprasad, P. Sriramakrishnan and M. Swaraj are also being considered.
