Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League held a joyous procession in the capital to welcome Bengali New Year 1431. The participants in the procession celebrated the new year by beating drums and dancing in horse carts and trucks.
On Sunday (April 14) morning, the procession started from Bahadur Shah Park and ended at the central office of Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue.
Earlier, a discussion meeting was held at Bahadur Shah Park on the occasion of New Year. General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader was present as the chief guest. Dhaka-8 Constituency Member of Parliament and Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Women Awami League President Meher Afroz Chumki, Women Awami League Senior Vice President Shirin Naeem Poonam and other leaders were the special guests.
Also present were Awami League Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan, Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League General Secretary Md. Humayun Kabir, Vice-President Nurul Haque, Joint General Secretary Hedayetul Islam Swapan, Morshed Kamal, Organizing Secretary Akter Hossain, Office Secretary Riaz Uddin Riaz, Dhaka Metropolitan South Chhatra League General Secretary Sajal Kundu, Jagannath University Chhatra League President Akter Hossain.
