Dania, a young teacher who, due to her commitment, is a manager in rural areas.

Dania Yineth Arias Collo is a woman who is barely 30 years old and represents millions of Bogota residents, who thanks to her effort, leadership and commitment is today part of the board of directors of one of the city’s rural education institutions.

Dania has a degree in artistic education, her career with the District began in 2018, after joining the Bogotá Ministry of Education at the Pasquilla school, located south of the city, in the rural area of ​​the town of Ciudad Bolívar. She lives there in Vereda de Pasquillita, with her 3-year-old daughter and her partner; two people who are her daily motivation and who support her in each of her goals and projects.

To commemorate International Women’s Day, in Portal Bogotá, we spoke with Dania, who told how at her young age she has managed to fulfill one of her great dreams and is now coordinator of one of the rural schools.

Dania has extensive experience as a teacher, her professional training has allowed her to work with primary school students with whom she has created various artistic projects in rural areas.

Being a teacher for her is a family inheritance, since this vocation comes from her mother, Sara María Collo, who is a teacher in the social area and from whom she acquired the special affection for teaching others. Just as Dania tells it in the following audio:

In 2022 he found out about the call for the merit contest for teachers and teaching managers of the National Civil Service Commission, in which he saw a great opportunity to continue projecting his career.

Dania competed in a broad public service selection process that sought to fill vacancies for teachers and teaching managers throughout the national territory. She signed up for a coordinator position in which she met the requested requirements.

After waiting for more than a year for the response to the call, at the beginning of 2024, Dania received the great news of being the winner of the competition in the offer in which she applied. For her and her family it was a moment that filled them with great happiness as they saw that Dania was fulfilling her dream and that her professional career was becoming stronger and stronger.

“I felt a mix of emotions, anxiety and a lot of joy upon knowing that I was the winner of this contest,” says Dania.

Dania is in the process of taking up the position in which she will serve as rural coordinator at the José Celestino Mutis school in the town of Ciudad Bolívar. Without a doubt, for her this is a moment that she longs for and now it is a reality.

She is sure that this is a great opportunity to continue growing professionally, she feels proud to be a teacher and now has high expectations for the new position that she will begin to hold very soon, as she tells in the following audio:

The District Education Secretary (SED) continues to advance with actions that guarantee the effective provision of the vacancies that are required in educational establishments, such as the case of Dania, who will take up her position these days.

The priority of the Personnel Office of the Human Talent Directorate is to advance this process, understanding that the regulatory mechanisms established by the public service must be complied with, but with the objective of covering the teaching vacancies required by official colleges.
