A dazzling display of festive artistry and sustainability is coming to London’s Claridge’s Hotel this year, as Burberry Chief Creative Officer Daniel lee prepares to unveil his reimagining of the hotel’s iconic Christmas tree on November 25. The design promises a unique blend of tradition and modern flair, incorporating surplus fabric from the luxury fashion house.
A Tradition of artistic Reinterpretation
For fifteen years, Claridge’s has invited esteemed guests and friends of the hotel to put their personal stamp on the annual Christmas tree, transforming the lobby into a festive spectacle. This year’s selection of Daniel Lee marks the second time a designer from Burberry has been given the honor, following Christopher Bailey‘s innovative 2015 creation.
Sustainable Sparkle and Equestrian Inspiration
Lee’s 16-foot tree will feature approximately 600 bows crafted from Burberry surplus fabric, adding a conscious element to the holiday display. This commitment to sustainability underscores a growing trend within the luxury sector. Beyond the bows, the tree will be adorned with hanging bells and decorations inspired by Burberry’s signature Equestrian Knight design. A gold crown will grace the top, while oversized chess pieces will anchor the base, creating a regal and playful atmosphere.
“It was a huge honor to design the tree and an opportunity to celebrate tradition and togetherness, expressing the season through vibrant colors and rich textures,” Lee stated. He further shared that Christmas is his favorite time of year and that Claridge’s “has always felt like home. It’s a true symbol of elegance and British heritage, where I’ve enjoyed many special moments over the years.”
Continuing a Legacy of Luxury and Design
Claridge’s Managing Director, Thomas Kochs, expressed excitement about the upcoming unveiling. “We can’t wait to see what surprises are in store for the tree, and look forward to seeing guests and visitors immerse themselves in the creative world of Burberry,” Kochs said. He added that the festive season is “always the moast magical time of the year at Claridge’s, and this festive season we are honored and delighted to welcome longstanding friend Daniel Lee into our lobby.”
