The relationship between the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, and the Ecuadorian UFC fighter, Marlon “Chito” Vera, has been socialized through the voice of Vera who gratefully remembers Noboa’s support in difficult times.
Their friendship dates back to the days when they shared a gym in Guayaquil, when Vera was at the beginning of her career. Now, with Vera’s UFC title fight against Sean O’Malley this Saturday, there’s a chance the president will attend. The close relationship between Noboa and Vera has been evident over time, especially during the 2023 presidential campaign, where the 31-year-old fighter publicly expressed his support for the candidate who ultimately won the second round of the elections. Vera even participated in training sessions with the now president for the making of an advertising spot. This Wednesday, during the UFC 299 press conference, Marlon “Chito” Vera faced the media, including numerous Ecuadorian journalists, who received him with enthusiasm. When asked about the possible presence of Daniel Noboa in the fight, Vera declared: “I have not spoken with Daniel. I have to see if he is here (Miami)”, the fighter did not rule out the possibility of the president of Ecuador attending the event, pointing out that if Noboa decides to do so, he could occupy a privileged seat next to the president of the UFC, Dana White, at the foot of the octagon. These seats are usually reserved for big celebrities or important personalities, and the president of Ecuador could be among them. “It is very possible. He is president of a country, so it would be easier to get him that type of seat,” Vera commented.
