Baruch College Projected to Secure Eighth Consecutive CUNYAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Title

A dominant performance is anticipated from Baruch College as they aim for their eighth consecutive CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) men’s swimming and diving regular season title. The prediction comes from the conference’s preseason coaches’ poll, released on Thursday, signaling continued success for the Bearcats.

Bearcats Dominate Preseason Poll

Baruch secured a commanding lead in the poll, capturing all three available first-place votes – coaches are restricted from voting for their own teams – and accumulating nine points overall. This demonstrates a strong consensus among conference coaches regarding Baruch’s potential for continued dominance. Brooklyn College earned the remaining first-place vote, finishing with seven points, while Lehman College (5 points) and York College (3 points) rounded out the top four.

Championship Pedigree

Baruch’s recent history speaks to their consistent excellence. Last season, the Bearcats completed an undefeated run through conference regular season competition before securing their seventh straight conference championship – and tenth overall – with a resounding victory at the championship meet. They amassed an impressive 402 points, outpacing second-place Brooklyn by a significant margin of 238 points.

Championship Details

The 2025-26 CUNYAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship is scheduled to take place from Friday, January 30 through Sunday, February 1 at The APEX at Lehman College. This will be a key event for the conference, showcasing the talent and dedication of its student-athletes.

Swimmers to Watch

Several athletes are poised to make a significant impact during the upcoming season.

  • Daniel Vasilkoff (Baruch) is a standout performer, having captured three individual championships at the 2025 conference meet in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, and 400 individual medley.
  • Michael Kravets (Brooklyn) is another athlete to watch, having been crowned conference champion in both the 500 and 1650 freestyle events last season. He also secured a runner-up finish in the 200 butterfly.
  • Romulo Valadez (Lehman) played a crucial role in Lehman’s success, contributing to second-place finishes in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays and the 400 medley relay at last season’s championship. He also finished fifth in the 200 individual medley.
  • Wood-by Paulemont (York) earned recognition as York’s Newcomer of the Year in 2023-24 and achieved a 10th-place finish in the 100 backstroke during his freshman year at the conference meet.
