Global Momentum and International Collaboration
The Grammy consideration follows a series of milestones achieved by the artist following the Eurovision 2026 grand final in Vienna. DARA claimed first place for Bulgaria with 516 points, establishing a record for the largest point margin between a winner and a runner-up in the history of the contest.

The track’s popularity quickly expanded beyond Europe. Bangaranga
entered the Billboard Global 200 chart at number 90, a ranking that aggregates streaming and sales data from over 200 territories worldwide, according to Dnes Plus. Additionally, the song has surpassed 60 million streams on Spotify.
The international project was guided by music producer Ilias Kokotos and brought together a multi-national team of writers and producers. The music was composed by Greek producer Dimitris Kontopoulos alongside DARA, who also co-wrote the lyrics. The creative lineup further includes Romanian producer Cristian Tarcea, widely known as Monoir, and Norwegian songwriter Anne Judith Stokke Vik.
Selection Procedure and Upcoming Dates
The submission phase represents only the initial step in the rigorous Grammy selection workflow and does not guarantee an official nomination. Eligible entries must have been released between August 31, 2025, and August 28, 2026, to be reviewed for the 2027 ceremony.

Voting power rests exclusively with the voting members of the American Recording Academy—comprising performers, songwriters, producers, and recording engineers—without public participation. The first round of voting runs from October 12 through October 22, during which academy members review submissions for eligibility and determine the nominees.
The Recording Academy will officially announce the final list of nominees on November 16, 2026. The 69th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony is subsequently scheduled to take place on February 7, 2027, in Los Angeles. If selected, DARA’s appearance on the ballot would mark a significant new chapter for Bulgarian representation at the awards, joining historical figures such as The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices choir, the rock group FSB, and composer Penka Kuneva.
