jpnn.com – JAKARTA - Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea has officially joined Italian Serie A club Fiorentina on a free transfer.
The club announced the arrival of the 33-year-old on their official website on Saturday morning WIB.
“ACF Fiorentina announces that they have successfully signed David de Gea Quintana,” wrote La Viola.
According to ESPN, De Gea has signed a one-year contract with the option of a further year.
De Gea had been a free agent since his contract was not extended by Manchester United in the summer of 2023. Despite receiving offers from clubs in the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Italy, he opted to join Fiorentina.
He was previously rumored to be joining another Italian club, Genoa, but a deal failed to materialize due to disagreements over salary.
De Gea ultimately chose Fiorentina, who finished eighth in Serie A last season.
