The case of Andrei Borovikov, who was sentenced to two and a half years in prison because of the video of the Rammstein group, should be considered again in the Arkhangelsk Regional Court in a different composition. This decision was made by the Court of Cassation of General Jurisdiction in St. Petersburg, reports on Tuesday, February 1, in its telegram channel, the Network Freedoms association, which provides legal assistance in cases of freedom of expression.

A court in Arkhangelsk sentenced a local opposition leader and former coordinator of the local headquarters of Alexei Navalny in April 2021. He was found guilty of distributing pornography because of a repost back in 2014 in his videos on the social network VKontakte of the clip “Pussy” by the German band Rammstein. Borovikov pleaded not guilty, calling the case politically motivated. A criminal case was opened against him in September 2020.

In 2019, Borovikov was sentenced to 400 hours of compulsory labor under the so-called “Dadino” article for repeatedly violating the rules for holding rallies. He organized protests in Arkhangelsk, including against the landfill in Shies.
