The death toll from Monday’s powerful earthquake in Turkey and Syria has exceeded 9,500.
An earthquake struck the eastern Turkish city of Gaziantep early Monday morning. Turkey and neighboring Syria were rocked by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake. Due to this powerful earthquake thousands of buildings including residences were razed to the ground in a few minutes.
As of Monday night, 2,600 people have died in both countries, but the death toll has now risen to 9,500.
200 aftershocks were felt following the earthquake, and the rescue work was affected by extreme cold. Countries including India have sent rescue teams.
It is said that thousands more people are trapped in the rubble and the death toll will increase. Rescue work is going on.
Earthquake in Turkey and Syria has caused great sadness among the people of the world.
