Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain, Advisor to the Interior Ministry of the Interim Government, said that the policemen will be declared fugitives if they do not return to work by August 15.

He said these things to the reporters when he came to see the injured policemen at Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital on Sunday (August 11) afternoon.

He said, we will announce a date. If a policeman does not report to work by that date, we will assume that he is absconding. I have many mechanisms. There are many mechanisms to make up the shortfall immediately. I don’t want to mention. The police have been used as a baton force. Within seven days you will see the training manpower will come to the police.

Stating that the society cannot run without the police, the advisor of the Interior Ministry of the Interim Government said, “I am getting reports of looting every day.” Army-BGB is working but it is not their job. Army cannot do police work. Yet the army is doing it. A state cannot be run as one wishes. Bangabandhu’s contribution was right but thousands of people fought. This state became independent in exchange of 3 million martyrs.
