New York,December 26,2025 – A year-end vacation for Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone took a sweet and celebratory turn with a visit to chef Vikas Khanna’s New York restaurant,Bungalow,marking Padukone’s first time making the traditional Indian sweet,modak,and celebrating Singh’s blockbuster film,Dhurandhar.

What is a modak, and why is it significant? Modaks are sweet dumplings traditionally offered to lord Ganesha and symbolize auspicious beginnings, prosperity, wisdom, and blessings.
Chef Khanna shared that the evening felt like “the most blessed end to 2025 – a new beginning in honor of India.”
Khanna documented the special occasion on social media, sharing a Reel showing him guiding Padukone through the process of crafting the delicate treat. The video captures Padukone carefully shaping her first modak, with Singh watching attentively. Khanna then personally fed the freshly made modaks to the couple, creating an intimate and symbolic moment.
Celebrating a Box Office Triumph
The gathering wasn’t solely about culinary firsts; it also served as a celebration of Singh’s recent cinematic success. released on December 5, Dhurandhar has surpassed the ₹1100 crore mark worldwide, solidifying its position as one of the year’s biggest box office hits. Khanna enthusiastically acknowledged the film’s achievement, stating, “Celebrating DHURANDHAR – standing taller then any film in the world.”
A Sweet Gesture Extended
Khanna extended the celebratory spirit to all diners at Bungalow that day, offering pomegranate and cardamom modaks to each guest. He explained that pomegranate is considered sacred for “health and wellbeing,” adding another layer of auspiciousness to the treat.
Reflecting on the personal importance of the moment, Khanna shared, “Standing in front of my parents’ wedding picture and creating modaks from the moulds I just got from Siddhivinayak Temple… I’m truly humbled.”

Earlier this week, Singh and Padukone were spotted enjoying quality time with family during their New York trip. Padukone also attended a Backstreet Boys concert at the Sphere in Las Vegas with her friend Sneha Ramachander.
