For the nostalgic of the cult Homelandand especially its protagonist Carrie Mathison, by popular demand Claire Danes returns to the small screen. The series, from today on Apple TV +, is entitled The Snake of Essex and sees the award-winning actress (four Golden Globes, three Emmys) as a widow moving to Essex hunting for a mythological snake. Here she bonds with the local pastor, played by Tom Hiddleston, but ends up in the dock when accused of controlling the snake. The Snake of Essex is taken from a novel of the same name by Sarah Perry. Keira Knightley was initially hired for the role of the protagonist, then replaced by Claire Danes in February 2021.
