Do you want to give up your YouTube career and delete your channel? Six steps lead to the goal.
Many people dream of building their own YouTube channel with a wide reach. But not every attempt is successful. If this is also the case for you, simply delete your channel completely. We’ll tell you how it works.
Delete YouTube channel in six easy steps
To delete a YouTube channel, you must log in to YouTube Studio. To do this, visit studio.youtube.com using a web browser and follow the steps below:
- Open Settings using the gear icon.
- Navigate to Channel > Advanced Settings.
- Click “Remove YouTube Content.”
- Sign in with your Google Account when the web portal prompts you to do so.
- Expand the “I want to permanently delete my content” menu and activate the checkboxes that appear.
- Confirm the operation with the “Delete content” button.
Please note that for security reasons, your YouTube channel cannot be deleted without a password. If you forget your Google account password, select “Forgot password” when logging in to restore access to your account and then delete the YouTube channel following the instructions above.
How to delete your YouTube channel on mobile
Deleting your channel can only be done via the YouTube Studio web portal and is not possible via the YouTube app on an iPhone with iOS or an Android phone. If you want to delete your YouTube channel on your smartphone, use a web browser app and follow the instructions above.
The alternative: hide your YouTube channel
If you delete your YouTube channel, you will irretrievably lose access to the content shared through it. Alternatively, you can temporarily hide your channel so you can reactivate it if necessary. To do this, follow the instructions for deleting your YouTube channel and select the “I want to hide my channel” option in step 5 instead. The button for step 6 is then called “Hide Channel”. All other steps are identical to the deletion process.
