New Delhi: BJP has now given ticket to its Delhi MP from Punjab. Hansraj Hans’ name is also in the eighth list of BJP’s Lok Sabha candidates. Till now he is MP from Delhi. BJP has also given tickets to leaders from other parties. BJP has announced candidates for 6 seats in Punjab. Dinesh Singh Babbu has been given ticket from Gurdaspur. Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been made the candidate from Amritsar. Sushil Kumar Rinku has been given ticket from Jalandhar. Who left Aam Aadmi Party and joined BJP a few days ago.
BJP is contesting elections for the first time in Punjab
Ravneet Singh Bittu has been made the candidate from Ludhiana. Bittu was also in Congress and a few days ago he left Congress and joined BJP. Delhi MP Hansraj Hans has been made the BJP candidate from Faridkot. Preneet Kaur has been made the candidate from Patiala. She also joined BJP a few days ago. Amarinder Singh’s wife Preneet Kaur was suspended by Congress. BJP is contesting the Lok Sabha elections alone for the first time in Punjab. Till now BJP has been contesting elections with Akali Dal only. Earlier Akali Dal was a part of NDA. But the Akali Dal separated from the NDA in September 2020 in protest against the agricultural laws (which were later repealed). Akali and BJP came together in 1996 and have been fighting elections together since then. The 2019 Lok Sabha elections were also fought jointly by BJP and Akali, when both the parties won two seats each.

Ticket given to former IAS also
BJP has fielded Pranat Tudu from Jhargram seat of West Bengal and Debashish Dhar from Birbhum. Debashish is a former IAS. BJP has nominated Rabindra Narayan Bohra from Jajpur seat of Odisha, Sukant Kumar Panigrahi from Kandhamal and Bhartrihari Mahtab from Cuttack. Mahtab has also joined BJP two days ago. Mahtab is one of the founding members of BJD and left BJD to join BJP. He had alleged that he did not get adequate opportunity to work independently in BJD.
