Berlin The food delivery service Getir is withdrawing from Spain, Portugal and Italy and intends to concentrate its business in Europe primarily on Germany in the future. “Getir’s withdrawal from these three markets will allow the company to focus its financial resources on existing markets where the opportunities for operational profitability and sustainable growth are greater,” the company announced on Thursday.
The company will continue to operate in Germany, Great Britain, the USA, the Netherlands and Turkey, it said. 96 percent of the company’s turnover is generated there.
Getir initially did not comment on the number of employees affected in the three markets that have now been closed. The company only thanked employees “for their hard work and commitment”.
The Turkish delivery service is active in the so-called quick commerce area, where customers can use an app to have supermarket products delivered to their own front door within minutes.
