Demand for civilian drones in Russia may exceed 30,000 vehicles by the end of 2023. About this in an interview with TASS told Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak.

“According to our estimates, the demand of the domestic market for UAS (unmanned aerial systems. – Ed.) By the end of this year will be more than 30,000 products,” he said, specifying that he means civil solutions.

According to Shpak, about 6,000 drones, including helicopters, airplanes, etc., will be produced at Russian enterprises this year. He noted that now 90 enterprises in Russia are engaged in the production of these devices.

It is expected that their production will increase. In particular, by 2024 Russia will produce up to 18,000 drones, and by 2030 their production will exceed 30,000 units.

Speaking about military drones, Shpak noted that the level of production there is “much higher.”

At the end of April, Shpak noted that in 2023 the share of domestically produced drones is 24%, by 2025 it should grow to 55%, and in 2030 to 70%. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the share of domestic UAS in public procurement is currently 23%, and by 2025 the figure should increase to 41%, by 2030 – up to 80%.

On June 28, the government, on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation, approved a strategy for the development of unmanned aircraft until 2030 and for the future until 2035. The main goal of the document is the emergence over the next six and a half years of a new branch of the economy related to the production and use of civilian drones.
